What We Do
St. Teresa serves the needs of our community by offering a Loaves and Fishes dinner for the elderly and homeless of the area. We provide a welcoming environment in which individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and courtesy. Our parish offers hot, nutritionally-balanced meals on each Friday of the month. We also partner with local restaurants to help prepare and serve our meals.
In addition to the meal, we also provide a “to-go” sack lunch which usually includes a sandwich, piece of fruit and a juice box. At each meal, parishioner volunteers serve approximately 70 guests; that equates to over 280-350 dinners served per month.
Typical tasks carried out by ministry volunteers include:
· Shop for groceries
· Prepare meals
· Set tables with plates and utensils
· Serve the meals and socialize with the guests
· Cleanup includes washing dishes, vacuuming, wiping down table and chairs
· Prepare sandwiches that are distributed to our guests at the end of the meal
Time Commitment
Preparation of the meal begins at 3:30 pm, service begins at 5:00 pm and clean-up concludes by 6:00 pm. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to one Friday a month.
